African Knowledge for Development Partnership conference, 25-26 September 2019

The 1st African Knowledge for Development Partnership Conference will be taking place at the UN Office Nairobi on 25-26 September 2019. Registration is free. It will focus on  African knowledge strategies, reflecting the global Agenda Knowledge for Development as well as the recently published Ugandan Knowledge Agenda. The Knowledge Management Award 2019 will be given to a UN Organization as well as to an individual African thought leader. Further information, including how to register, is available here.

The conference will be part of Nairobi.Knowledge.Week which is taking place on 23-27 September 2019.

First partnership meeting in Nigeria

Towards starting the conversation to develop a Knowledge Agenda for Nigeria, Knowledge Hub Nigeria Ltd/GTE in collaboration with Knowledge for Development Partnership (K4DP) and in collaboration with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) convened the first Nigerian Knowledge for Development Partnership Roundtable on 20 August 2019. The Roundtable drew delegates from diverse sectors in Nigeria. The delegates provided wholehearted inputs toward the development of Knowledge Agenda for Nigeria. The comprehensive report of the Roundtable is available here

A Think Tank group is working to fine-tune the inputs together with collated statements from selected organisations and individuals, and to prepare the Knowledge Agenda for Nigeria. The first edition of the Agenda document will be presented to the public during the Knowledge Week/Knowledge Conference planned for November 2019.

K4DP Conference in Geneva on 12 September 2018

On 12 September 2018, a full-day meeting of the Knowledge for Development Partnership took place in Geneva, hosted by the World Trade Organization (WTO). It involved keynote speeches but also an open space and the presentation of the KM Awards 2018.

The conference was organized by  Ninez Piezas-Jerbi of the WTO, together with Andreas Brander of the K4DP, Pavel Kraus and Rocio Sanz.

IFAD receives KM Award 2018 at the WTO

During the Knowledge for Development Partnership Conference, held at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva on 12 September 2018, the KM Awards 2018 were presented to outstanding pioneers in the field of knowledge management and knowledge-based development. The organizational award was presented to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

K4D Partnership returns to Geneva on 12 September

A full-day meeting of the Knowledge for Development Partnership will take place on 12 September at the WTO World Trade Organization, Geneva. The third edition of the Agenda Knowledge for Development will be introduced, and there will be leading keynote speakers as well as a ‘knowledge market’. Kampala Knowledge Week, 6-8 August 2018

Kampala.Knowledge.Week took place on 6-10 August 2018. It included the first Africa-based Knowledge for Development Partnership (K4DP) meeting. The Agenda Knowledge for Development, as well as the mission and strategies of K4DP have been acknowledged and highly appreciated by the 100 participants at Hotel Africana in the centre of Kampala.

HLPF side event: Knowledge Frameworks to Accelerate the 2030 Agenda

On Tuesday 17 July 2018, a breakfast side event is taking place during the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development entitled “Knowledge Frameworks to Accelerate the 2030 Agenda: scaleable examples showcasing the impact of national strategies and multi-stakeholder approaches.”

The event is being co-organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Knowledge for Development Partnership (K4DP) in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations. The event will be held from 8.15 to 9.45 am at the Dutch Permanent Mission, 666 Third Avenue, 18th floor in New York. A light breakfast will be served to the participants able to be there in person.

With the ambitious 2030 Agenda, the international community is focused on actionable mechanisms to advance measurable progress in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This 90-minute session will focus on operational cases which have used knowledge-based mechanisms with demonstrable success. The tools and approaches include development & application of national knowledge strategies, leveraging multi-state knowledge to pool operational knowledge, and engaging with stakeholders at all levels to bring knowledge-based local solutions into national development policies, strategies and programmes. This dialogue will be part of an ongoing series on the role of knowledge frameworks to achieve SDGs.

The session will be moderated by Neesham Spitzberg of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Helen Gillman (IFAD) who has organised this session will be participating remotely.
