Knowledge Management Consultant, UNICEF India
Radhika is a dedicated Qualitative Researcher specialising in knowledge management. She emphasises localisation, decolonisation of knowledge and has a core strength in adaptive management and facilitation.
My vision for knowledge management in sustainable development emphasises the importance of contextualising learnings from the Global North to make them relevant for the Global South. This approach ensures that the transfer of knowledge is not top-down but inclusive and adaptive to local contexts.
Decolonizing knowledge is crucial, not just in conferences and meetings, but also in the ways we conduct research and implement policies. Future researchers and policymakers must immerse themselves in local realities, spending time on the ground to genuinely understand the contexts they aim to improve. Knowledge management plays a pivotal role in distilling diverse experiences and fostering adaptive, reflective practices.
By valuing the expertise embedded within local communities, we can create solutions that are culturally relevant and sustainable. Facilitated discussions, iterative learning, and adaptive management are essential in this endeavour. By pausing to reflect on varying facilitation experiences and adapting to changing scenarios, we can co-create a more equitable future.
As a community dedicated to sustainable development, we must recognize and elevate local voices, ensuring that policies and interventions are inclusive and effective. Integrating local knowledge systems into our frameworks allows us to build resilient societies that are well-equipped to address their unique challenges and opportunities, fostering sustainable development for all.
