Kampala event on knowledge and renewable energy

On 10 April 2019, the Ugandan Knowledge Partnership, part of the global Knowledge for Development Partnership, will be holding a one-day event at Makerere University with the Ugandan Sector Partnership Renewable Energy. This is the second Knowledge for Development Partnership event to take place in Uganda.

The Ugandan Knowledge Partnership was inaugurated in August 2018 to connect institutions, organizations and citizens driving Uganda’s transformation to a knowledge-society. The inputs given so far through workshops and individual contributions have been put together for a first draft version of the Ugandan Knowledge Agenda which will be presented at this meeting. From there specific knowledge targets for the renewable energy sector will be discussed, and a sector knowledge partnership for renewable energy shall be formed.

New edition of the Agenda Knowledge for Development

Today saw the publication of the third edition of the Agenda Knowledge for Development which is available for download here.

There are a number of differences between the second and third versions:

  • It now includes 130 personal statements, rather than 73 in the previous edition.
  • There is a new Knowledge Development Goal 14: ‘The arts and culture are central to knowledge societies’
  • There are additional targets on communities of practice (6.6) and indigenous knowledge (3.5), reflecting a number of personal statements.

 

K4DP Conference in Geneva on 12 September 2018

On 12 September 2018, a full-day meeting of the Knowledge for Development Partnership took place in Geneva, hosted by the World Trade Organization (WTO). It involved keynote speeches but also an open space and the presentation of the KM Awards 2018.

The conference was organized by  Ninez Piezas-Jerbi of the WTO, together with Andreas Brander of the K4DP, Pavel Kraus and Rocio Sanz.

IFAD receives KM Award 2018 at the WTO

Geneva 2018updated

During the Knowledge for Development Partnership Conference, held at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva on 12 September 2018, the KM Awards 2018 were presented to outstanding pioneers in the field of knowledge management and knowledge-based development. The organizational award was presented to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Knowledge dances from Kampala Knowledge Week

The knowledge dances from the Kampala.Knowledge.Week (6-10 August 2018), which included the first Africa-based K4DP-Meeting, are now available on video and can be played below.  These dances were one of the highlights of the event and were specially designed choreographed for Kampala.Knowledge.Week, featuring images from ‘knowledge city’.

K4D Partnership returns to Geneva on 12 September

A full-day meeting of the Knowledge for Development Partnership will take place on 12 September at the WTO World Trade Organization, Geneva. The third edition of the Agenda Knowledge for Development will be introduced, and there will be leading keynote speakers as well as a ‘knowledge market’.
